MedChi established an insurance trust fund for the purposes of offering Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association group health to its physician members.

The insurance trust fund added group, life, and disability, and business overhead expense benefits for their physician members.

MedChi Insurance Agency was formed with the primary purpose of becoming a direct broker for Medical Mutual of Maryland offering professional liability insurance to physicians and practice groups. In addition, administration service for the insurance fund shifted to the agency.

MedChi Insurance Agency expanded its operation to bring all products and services in house and discontinued its-sub broker arrangement.

Maryland Small Group Reform (MSGR) allows for small businesses to seek group health plans. This led to the departure from the association health plan and practices were able to maintain their own health insurance. Our focus moved from the association health plan to expanding direct health insurance offerings through health insurance carrier and third party administrator relationships.

MedChi Insurance Agency continued to grow as a full-service agency, offering and servicing a broad range of insurance solutions to MedChi members and all physicians in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

MedChi Insurance Agency established new strategic relationships with like-focused, complimentary partners including Heller-Kowitz, Onorato Financial, and Insperity to broaden our industry footprint.

To better reflect the agency’s plan for growth and expansion, we rebranded as Unity Insurance. We remain a critical partner with MedChi, the Maryland State Medical Society, serving the needs of physicians, their practices and families.

Unity Insurance celebrates 50 Years of dedicated service. This achievement honors the commitment of the Unity Insurance team, the strength of its business partners, and, above all, the confidence and loyalty of its valued clients.
