Reminder – Medical Mutual’s annual reapplication process is coming to a close

Attention Medical Mutual Clients.  This is a reminder that Medical Mutual’s annual reapplication process is coming to a close.   If you have not yet submitted your reapplication form, or have a screening sheet from MM asking for more information and you have not yet responded, please do so now. The deadline is September 1st  and time is running out.   If you have any questions, please call Unity Insurance at 410-539-6642.

2021 Medical Mutual Renewal Applications

Did you get a mailing from Medical Mutual with a Renewal application inside and wonder, “Why am I getting this now in March when my policy doesn’t renew until 1/1/22?”

Well, the answer is simple.  Medical Mutual sent out these Renewal applications (commonly referred to as a re-app) to a large sample of their policyholders on March 29, 2021.

Their intent is to obtain updated information from you since they have not had you complete any updates for the past three years or more.

Rather than ask you to complete a new Application each year like some other carriers may do, they are asking that you complete this brief Renewal application on a rotating basis.

This saves you some time, while making sure that your policy coverage reflects your current practice situation.

The original deadline was 4/22/21.

The first reminder was sent 5/8/21, with a final reminder 5/24/21.

Non-renewal notices will be sent 9/9/21.

If the non-renewal letter is sent, you will not receive a renewal invoice 11/1/21.

(This is where the “Renewal” part of the application name comes in.)

If there are questions or unanswered sections of the re-app, the carrier will send out a screening sheet for additional response. This means you are not cleared off the re-app list.  If these responses are not met, a Non-renewal notice will be sent.

Please keep in mind, that not all policyholders have received this paperwork. Please don’t be alarmed if you do not receive one for each member of your group, or for the corporation. Medical Mutual goes through this process each year with a subset of its clients. If you did not receive a request this year, you will very likely be contacted next year or the year after.

Please be sure to complete it for the named insured on the form.  For example, if it is for your corporation, only include answers that related to that corporation not to your individual physician(s).
